Where should we stay near Georgian Peaks?

Short answer
Georgian Peaks skis the escarpment just outside Thornbury — home of the biggest vertical drop of any Ontario hill, about 250 metres — and from our chalets the drive west along Highway 26 runs roughly 15 minutes. The Peaks is private and member-hosted for guests, with no public lodging, so visiting families and race-weekend crews stay along the bay; a chalet at Blue Mountain puts you between the club and everything else the weekend needs.

The shoreline drive to the Peaks

From the cluster at 104 Brooker Boulevard, Highway 26 runs west along Georgian Bay through Craigleith toward Thornbury, with the Peaks’ towers visible on the escarpment as you approach — about 15 minutes door to door in normal conditions. It is one of the area’s prettier commutes, and it puts Thornbury’s harbour and bakeries on your route home. The chalet lineup and the ski-trip collection cover the bases available.

Race weekends and guest visits

The Peaks’ FIS-grade pitch makes it a race hub, and race weekends bring the same lodging math every time: multiple families, early starts, mountains of gear, and a need to feed athletes properly. A 5-bedroom chalet handles all four, and adjacent chalets scale it for a whole training group — see booking multiple chalets together. Guest skiing itself runs through members under the club’s rules; plan that side with your host.

The rest of the crew’s weekend

Basing at Blue Mountain rather than beside the club is a feature for mixed groups: whoever is not on the Peaks’ pitch has the Village a 10-minute walk away, the year-round private hot tub at the chalet, and Collingwood’s restaurants in easy reach — our area dining guide maps the options. When the ski day ends in Thornbury, home is a short drive east.
