Short answer
Blue Mountain is about 70 kilometres from Midland by road, roughly an hour and twenty minutes before traffic and stops. The computed route runs west through Wasaga Beach and along the south shore of Georgian Bay to the escarpment. For a Midland or Penetanguishene family that is close enough for a two-night break, and the chalets that sleep ten are the usual fit for one or two households.

The road from Midland to the Blue Mountain chalets

We routed from Midland to the Blue View Mountain cluster at 104 Brooker Boulevard: 69.7 kilometres and 80 minutes with no traffic. The line follows Simcoe County roads west to Wasaga Beach, then River Road West and Mosley Street through town before joining the shoreline toward Collingwood and the Blue Mountains.

Summer weekends are the slow part, because the route runs straight through Wasaga Beach's main streets. A Friday-evening or Sunday-morning arrival keeps you out of the busiest beach hours. Our answer on chalets near Wasaga Beach explains how the beach town sits relative to the chalets.

Two Georgian Bay towns linked by water as well as road

Midland and Collingwood face each other across the southern end of Georgian Bay. The Georgian Bay Regatta, organized by the Midland Bay Sailing Club, has used a race route from Collingwood to Midland; its 2026 edition ran July 29 to August 2, and the next dates come from the club. Sailing families following the race can find the dates on our Georgian Bay Regatta page.

For non-sailors, the change of scene is the point. From the chalets, Blue Mountain Village is a ten-minute walk and the escarpment trails start close by, a different kind of weekend from the bay-side towns of north Simcoe.

Picking a chalet when Midland is only an hour and a half away

A short drive opens up two-night stays that longer-distance visitors skip. Vista in the Mountain cluster, 44L in Tyrolean Village and Aqua Villa on the bay each sleep ten. Aqua Villa has a sandy public beach steps away and a bay-facing hot tub, while Vista puts the group a ten-minute walk from the Village and the lifts.

Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m., with a two-night minimum. Our best chalet for a group of 10 answer compares the three ten-guest homes in more detail.
