What to Do After Check-Out at Blue Mountain, Ontario

Short answer

Check-out at the Blue View chalets is 11:00 a.m., which still leaves most of the day. Pack the cars first, then choose one stop that sits on or near your way home: brunch in Thornbury, a winery or cidery, Collingwood's waterfront or a last ride at the resort. Groups who want a slower departure usually book a third night from the long weekend rentals page.

A last morning near the Blue Mountain chalets

Thornbury is the classic last stop. Thornbury Bakery Café publishes daily opening from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and it is about twenty minutes from the cluster and fifteen from Aqua Villa. Groups heading east can stop at Millennium Park on Collingwood's harbour for a view back across Nottawasaga Bay toward Blue Mountain. Collingwood runs seasonal paid waterfront parking there, so check the posted terms.

One more activity after checking out of the chalet

The Ridge Runner mountain coaster at the resort's Adventure Park runs all year, according to the resort, subject to conditions; it is about five minutes from the cluster by car. In winter, a half-day lift ticket after check-out lets skiers finish on the hill, with boots and bags already in the car.

For adults, Georgian Hills Vineyards on Grey Road 2 describes year-round visits, with seasonal hours that vary. It is fifteen minutes from Aqua Villa and twenty-five from the cluster. Our wineries and breweries answer lists others. Agree on a designated driver before anyone books a tasting.

Stops on the drive home from Blue Mountain

Toronto-bound drivers on Highway 26 pass through Stayner, which our Stayner guide covers as the small town on the way in and out. A longer detour south reaches Creemore, about 42 minutes from the chalets, described in our Creemore day trip.

If the group is in no hurry, a late lunch in Collingwood spreads the departures out, and anyone driving north or west can head for Thornbury and Meaford instead. Agree on the plan the night before so nobody is waiting in the driveway with a packed car while others are still deciding.
