London to Blue Mountain: Highway 401 first, then the county roads

Book three nights on the long weekend rentals page; the drive deserves it. The routing measured from London City Hall runs about 92 kilometres east on Highway 401, then turns north onto county roads for the rest of its roughly 250 kilometres, taking about three hours forty-nine minutes before traffic and stops. North of the 401 it joins the same county-road chain as the routes we measured from Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph. How far Blue Mountain is from London gives the shorter answer. The road numbers change several times on the county section, so let a passenger navigate rather than the driver.

Planning the London drive around check-in and check-out

With check-in from 4:00 pm, a London group that leaves by about 11 a.m. and stops once for lunch arrives in good time. Fill the tank before the long county-road section, and plan the big grocery shop close to the chalets rather than hauling it from home. Check-out is 11:00 am; on a holiday Monday that still gets the group home for dinner. In January and February, give the northern hour extra time for lake-effect snow. The minimum stay is two nights, but from London the third night is what makes the trip unhurried.

Summer or ski season: what a London, Ontario group drives for

In summer, Aqua Villa gives ten people the Georgian Bay shore with a sandy public beach steps away, and the cluster chalets share a heated outdoor pool from May to mid-September. In winter the cluster’s 10-minute walk to Blue Mountain Village and the lifts matters more than anything else on the list; the ski chalets page shows those eight. Either way, a longer stay turns one long drive at each end into a holiday rather than a commute. Fall is the third season worth the drive; the fall colours rentals page covers it.

Booking a London group of 14, 20 or 28

Up to 14 fits one chalet: Aurora has three main-level queens, and Luna and Prima each have a steam room. A group of 20 takes two side-by-side homes, and 28 fits Aurora with Luna or Prima. When the dates are open, any chalets can go together; check each chalet’s live calendar and book each one, or ask the group desk to confirm adjacent dates. Dogs can come too: one is standard with a pet fee. Every chalet has four parking spaces, enough for a London group arriving in several cars.
