Chalets compared for a men’s retreat by beds

Licensed numbers assume couples in the queens and two people in each double lower bunk. For a men’s group, count beds instead: nine in each of these chalets, with sauna or steam in three.

Counting beds, not guests, for a men’s retreat

Licensed capacity counts two people in every queen and two in each double lower bunk. Most men’s groups will not plan that way, so count separate beds. Omega and Vega each have three queens, a bunk room with a single-over-double bunk plus a single, and a room with a single bunk plus a single: nine beds. Corona, Luna and Prima also come to nine. Vista and Stella give eight, with a twin room for two men who want no ladder, and Aurora gives at least eight; the capacity of its second bunk room is unconfirmed. A group of eighteen therefore takes two chalets, not one. Reserve each on its live calendar, for instance Omega’s and Vega’s, which sit side by side as Omega and Vega.

A men’s retreat programme of trail, sauna and fire

Most men’s retreats alternate sessions with something physical. Near the chalets, with verified drive times from the cluster:

  • Petun Conservation Area, 15 minutes: Bruce Trail terrain with cliffs and crevices; approach from the north in winter.
  • Loree Forest, 25 minutes, with paths that join the Bruce Trail, and Kolapore Wilderness Trails, 25, for ungroomed cross-country skiing in winter.
  • Mountain View Stables, 5 minutes: guided trail rides for riders twelve and older.
  • AXED at The Bunker in the Village, 5 minutes: coached axe throwing and racing simulators.

Evenings belong to the chalet: the dry sauna at Corona or Stella, the steam room at Luna or Prima, every chalet’s private hot tub, and the gas fire pits between the cluster homes, shared with other guests unless your group has the whole property.

Ground rules a men’s retreat agrees before arrival

The policies are short and worth reading aloud at the first session. The noise by-law applies at all hours, so the fire-pit conversation stays at a conversational level after dark. Smoking is not permitted in the chalets, hot tubs or steam rooms, and fireworks are banned. Only registered overnight guests may be on the property, so a speaker or a friend from town cannot come up for the evening. Each chalet allows four vehicles, so men driving up separately should carpool. A stag weekend is a different trip with its own page, bachelor party chalets, and faith-based men’s groups can also read church retreat accommodation.

Booking a men’s retreat for nine, eighteen or twenty-seven

Up to nine men with a bed each fit one chalet. Sixteen to eighteen take two side by side; twenty-five to twenty-seven take three, such as Omega, Vega and Corona, which together give twenty-seven separate beds and a dry sauna. Two nights is the minimum, starting at 4:00 pm and ending at 11:00 am. Payment is in full when you reserve, and a security deposit is authorized per chalet at check-in and released after departure when the rules have been kept.
