Staying near the Beaver Valley: the honest distance from Kimberley

None of the ten Blue View chalets is in the valley; the nearest Blue View beds are at the base of Blue Mountain, and a group books them through the fall colours rentals page before setting its valley days. Kimberley is about 29 kilometres and 32 minutes from 104 Brooker Boulevard on the measured route, before traffic and stops. That is close enough to come back for lunch on a wet day and far enough that one person in each car should know the way. The Beaver Valley and Kimberley guide sketches the valley itself.

Two Beaver Valley lookouts with very different walks

Old Baldy Conservation Area puts a lookout on the escarpment above the valley and Kimberley. Grey Sauble describes a walk of roughly fifteen minutes from parking to the view, plus access to the Bruce Trail, and the drive is about 40 minutes. Epping–John Muir Lookout on Grey Road 7 is the short-walk option, with a picnic shelter, a John Muir plaque and seasonal washrooms, about 35 minutes from the cluster. A mixed-ability group can split: walkers to Old Baldy, the rest to Epping, lunch together after.

Beaver Valley paddling: the river from Kimberley to Epping

Grey County describes a ten-kilometre paddle on the Beaver River from Access Point 1 near Kimberley to Access Point 2 at Epping. The river winds, so the water distance takes far longer than the short drive between the two launches, and the county warns of debris, log jams and beaver dams that can force a portage. Sort the boats, a second vehicle at the take-out and each paddler’s experience the night before; the route page is Beaver River paddle: Kimberley to Epping. The launch is about 30 minutes from the cluster.

Kimberley supplies and the Beaver Valley chalet that fits

Kimberley General Store on Grey Road 13 sells baking, coffee, grocery staples and prepared foods in the original store building, according to Grey County’s tourism listing; it points customers to its online hours, so check before counting on it for lunch. Back at the chalets, a group of up to 14 takes one five-bedroom house, and a hiking club of 20 or more books two adjacent ones on the two-chalets page. Every chalet has a private hot tub, and the sauna and steam homes compared above are the ones to pick for tired legs.
