Dates for the coming season

The Autumn Leaves Studio Tour is a free, self-guided drive to thirteen artists’ studios and their guest artists across the back roads of Grey and Bruce counties, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend before Thanksgiving. The 2026 tour ran October 2 to 4. It is built for a weekend away, which is exactly what a chalet near Blue Mountain provides.

Download the Autumn Leaves map and plan a loop

The tour website publishes a printable PDF map with the studios lettered along the route and notes that signs mark the final approach to each one. Pick a loop of five or six studios for a day rather than attempting all thirteen; the back roads between Grey and Bruce are slow and that is part of the appeal.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, so an early start from the chalet matters.

Studios on the tour range from potters and painters to woodworkers and glass artists, and many are working spaces in rural homes, so expect gravel driveways and modest parking.

Combine the studio tour with peak-colour drives

The tour’s weekend-before-Thanksgiving pattern lines up with the first strong colour in the Beaver Valley and along Grey Road 13. Lookouts such as Epping–John Muir and the valley cideries sit between studio stops, and the cider festival weekend shows what else the region schedules for the same window.

Treat each day as a drive with studio pauses rather than a shopping trip.

The map’s lettering runs roughly north to south through Grey and Bruce, which lets a group choose a Beaver Valley day on Saturday and a Bruce Peninsula direction on Sunday.

Return each evening to one chalet

A self-guided tour over two or three days works best from a fixed base. Compare the fall-colour chalet collection for the group’s bedrooms, and keep dinner at the chalet so the day ends with the hot tub rather than a long drive home to the city.

Check-in at 4 p.m. on Friday means the first full tour day is Saturday.

Purchases travel better in a car boot than a backpack, so leave space for the drive home when the cars are packed on Friday.
