What the Collingwood Regional is
Collingwood hosts one of the Canadian regional stops in the International Silver Stick minor-hockey series. It runs as two separate weekends: the first for the A-level U11, U13, U15 and U18 divisions, the second for the house-league and local-league (HL/LL) divisions in the same age groups. Games are spread across Collingwood’s arenas from Friday through Sunday, which is why the tournament fills every room in town on both weekends — and why teams increasingly base themselves at Blue Mountain, fifteen minutes away.
Weekends to plan around
In 2025 the A divisions played
November 14–16 and the HL/LL divisions
December 12–14. The 2026–27 edition had not been posted on the tournament site when we reviewed this page on September 22, 2026; the organizer lists each season under
Collingwood Regional once dates are set. Team managers usually know their weekend by early fall, so book the chalet as soon as the schedule lands — the December weekend collides with the start of the holiday season at the mountain.
The drive to the arenas
The arenas are in Collingwood proper, about a 15-minute drive down Highway 26 from our chalet cluster at 104 Brooker Boulevard. That is close enough for a 7 am ice time and far enough that the families are back at Blue Mountain between games, with the Village a 10-minute walk from the chalet for lunch or an afternoon on the hill once the season opens. Every chalet has free parking for four cars, so a carpool of hockey bags is not a problem.
Why team families take whole chalets
A tournament weekend is three families in adjoining hotel rooms or one chalet with five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a full kitchen. The cluster chalets put the kids in lower-level bunk rooms and the parents in queen bedrooms on the main floor, feed the team breakfast at 6 am from a real kitchen, and end the day in a
private hot tub. Occupancy is capped by the Town’s short-term-rental by-law, so a full roster spreads across
two adjacent chalets or the
20-to-30-guest configuration rather than squeezing into one; our

Chalets that fit a roster
Three families of four fit a
sleeps-14 chalet exactly; a bigger group books
two chalets side by side so each set of parents keeps its own front door, and a full team with siblings uses the
groups of 20 to 30 page. Quiet hours and the guest-list rules in our
renters’ code apply on tournament weekends like any other — the neighbours are year-round residents.
