What the Town of The Blue Mountains by-law says about hot tubs
The hours appear in the conditions for each type of short-term rental property licence, worded as a rule on the operator: do not permit the use or occupation of an outdoor hot tub or outdoor pool outside the hours of 0700 and 2300. The Town's administrative monetary penalty by-law, 2021-71, lists using or permitting that use between 2300 and 0700 as a penalty item, and the licensing by-law assigns demerit points against the licence for the same breach. Failing to cover or secure the tub is a separate item.
We found no weekend or holiday exception in the text. The rule is a licence condition for short-term rentals; it is not a general rule we could find for a private home's backyard tub.
How the noise by-law sits alongside the hot tub hours
The hours are not the only limit. Blue View adopts the Town's Noise By-law, which prohibits noise likely to disturb the inhabitants at any time of day, and violations can bring OPP involvement and fines. Under our policies, a noise complaint forfeits the whole security deposit. The same licence conditions also require noise monitoring indoors and outdoors.
In practice, a 10:30 p.m. soak is within the hours and still has to be a quiet one; the tub is outside, and voices carry across the lot. Our answer on quiet hours and noise rules covers the evening routine.
Planning hot tub time around the 11 p.m. cut-off
Each tub holds eight people at a time, so a chalet of 14 needs two sittings; start the first one straight after the ski day rather than after dinner. Keep the water at 104°F or below, put the cover back on and clip it between sittings, and leave the last soak for 10 p.m. The hot tub capacity answer has the full rotation.
The clause names outdoor tubs and pools, so it also covers the shared heated pool at 104 Brooker Boulevard in its May to mid-September season. The saunas are indoors: Corona and Stella have dry saunas and Luna and Prima steam rooms, listed on chalets with a sauna, and the noise rules still apply to them.
Related questions
Can we use the hot tub at 6 a.m. before skiing?
No. The window opens at 7 a.m. under the licence condition, so an early soak has to wait until then.
Is the 11 p.m. limit a Blue View house rule?
It comes from the Town's licensing by-law, and every licensed short-term rental in The Blue Mountains is subject to it.
Do the hours change on long weekends or New Year's Eve?
Not in the by-law text we read. Plan the New Year's Eve soak for before 11 p.m.
