Snowboarders enjoying a sunny day on the mountain – Reserving a Picnic Shelter Near Blue Mountain, Ontario
Short answer
Yes. Several parks within half an hour of the Blue View chalets have shelters or pavilions you can reserve: Craigleith Provincial Park through Ontario Parks, Bayview Park in Thornbury and Delphi Point Park through the Town of The Blue Mountains, Sunset Point Park through the Town of Collingwood, and Christie Beach through Grey Sauble Conservation. Reunions often book the overnight beds from the two-chalet collection and hold the big daytime gathering at a park.

Why a park pavilion suits a reunion staying at Blue View chalets

Day visitors are not permitted at the Blue View chalets, and each home has a fixed maximum number of overnight guests. A reserved park shelter solves the day-guest problem: the relatives sleeping at the chalets host everyone else at the water, then return to their private hot tubs in the evening. Our answer on renting a chalet for a day event explains the chalet side of that rule.

Reservable shelters within a short drive of the Blue Mountain chalets

  • Craigleith Provincial Park, about ten minutes from the cluster and five from Aqua Villa: a reservable picnic shelter overlooking Georgian Bay, booked with Ontario Parks. The park's 2026 operating season ran April 10 to October 18.
  • Delphi Point Park, ten minutes from the cluster: a small covered pavilion on a shale shoreline; organized gatherings go through the Town's reservation process.
  • Bayview Park, Thornbury, about twenty minutes away: a waterfront park with a playground and covered pavilion, open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, also reserved through the Town.
  • Sunset Point Park, Collingwood, about twenty minutes away: the Town rents a pavilion, and its three greenspaces can be booked only outside the busier summer months.
  • Christie Beach, about twenty minutes from Aqua Villa and thirty from the cluster: a sandy beach with a picnic pavilion offered through Grey Sauble Conservation.

Booking order for a Blue Mountain reunion with a park day

Secure the shelter first, since a specific date at a specific pavilion is harder to find than beds. Then book neighbouring chalets on the same Brooker Boulevard lot, so each family has its own kitchen and hot tub. The eight Mountain-cluster chalets sleep up to 104 guests between them.

Read each park's rules before planning food. The Town lists tents and barbecues as prohibited at Council Beach, for example, so a catered or cooler lunch may suit some sites better. Our family reunion planning page covers the rest of the logistics.

Related questions

Can extended family visit us at the chalet instead?

No. Day visitors are not permitted at the Blue View chalets, which is why many reunions use a reserved park shelter for the day.

Which shelter is closest to the chalets?

Craigleith Provincial Park and Delphi Point Park, both about ten minutes from the Mountain cluster and five from Aqua Villa.

Can we book Sunset Point greenspace in July?

The Town of Collingwood says its Sunset Point greenspaces are bookable only outside the busier summer months; in summer they are first-come for daily users. The pavilion is a separate rental.
