Does Blue Mountain have a beach?

Blue Mountain is the escarpment ridge the resort is built on; the Village and our cluster chalets sit at its base, a few kilometres inland from Georgian Bay. Drive north to Highway 26 and you hit the shoreline almost immediately — the strip between Craigleith and Collingwood is bay on one side and mountain on the other. So the honest answer to “is there a beach at Blue Mountain” is no at the lifts and yes ten minutes away, which is why summer chalet stays here are built around a beach morning and a Village evening.

Northwinds Beach at Craigleith is the closest public sandy beach to the cluster chalets — small, family-scale, with a swimming area on the bay and parking off Highway 26. Collingwood’s waterfront parks give you rocky shoreline, a harbour walk and sunset views rather than sand. Wasaga Beach, east of Collingwood, is the big one: a very long freshwater beach with shallow, warm water that suits younger swimmers, worth the extra drive for a full beach day (our Wasaga answer covers the trip). The bay is cool in June, best in August, and swimming season and water temperature get their own answer.

If the beach is the point of the trip, Aqua Villa is the chalet to book: a four-bedroom waterfront villa sleeping ten, with a sandy public beach reachable in under a minute, a bay-facing private hot tub and a steam sauna, and the resort a five-minute drive back the other way.
