Does Meaford have a beach?

The Municipality of Meaford lists Memorial Park as a Georgian Bay outing with a beach, picnic space, public washrooms, a playground and an eighteen-hole mini-golf course open to day visitors as well as campers. It is about thirty-five minutes from the Mountain cluster and thirty from Aqua Villa.

Non-residents pay for parking from May 1 to October 31, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., so arrive with a way to pay for each vehicle. Use the Grant Avenue entrance and the signed day-use parking; our Memorial Park page has the arrival notes.

Christie Beach, on Christie Beach Road, is a sandy beach with a picnic pavilion offered through Grey Sauble Conservation, open dawn to dusk with seasonal washrooms. From Aqua Villa it is about twenty minutes; from the cluster, about thirty. It suits families who want sand and a quieter setting.

In town, Fred Raper Park on Bayfield Street has a pebble waterfront, a gazebo and picnic seating, and it is where the Tom Thomson Trail begins. Meaford is about thirty-one minutes from 104 Brooker Boulevard by our routing estimate, before traffic. That is far enough to make it a planned day rather than a quick swim, and close enough to come back for dinner and the chalet's hot tub.
