Aerial view of a ski village in winter – How Far Is Blue Mountain, Ontario From Montreal?
Short answer
Blue Mountain is about 690 kilometres from Montreal City Hall, roughly eight and a half hours of driving before traffic, weather and stops. The computed route follows the 40 and the 20 out of Quebec, Highway 401 west and Highway 400 north before the last stretch along Georgian Bay. A trip that long makes sense as a ski week, so Montreal groups usually book from the ski chalet collection and stay five nights or more.

Montreal to Blue Mountain by car: the long version

We routed from Montreal City Hall on rue Notre-Dame Est to 104 Brooker Boulevard: 690.3 kilometres and 506 minutes with no traffic. Most of the distance is Highway 401 across eastern Ontario, then Highway 400 north from Toronto and Highway 26 into the Blue Mountains. Real travel time with fuel, meals and Toronto traffic will run longer, so treat the figure as the minimum and plan the day around it.

Ottawa is on a different line. Our Ottawa to Blue Mountain guide covers that drive, which runs about seven hours and ten minutes before traffic by our routing.

Planning a Quebec group’s ski week at Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain Resort usually runs its lifts from early-to-mid December to around mid-April, with opening and closing days set by conditions and announced by the resort. A week inside that window gives a Montreal group five or six ski days for two travel days. Our best chalets for a group ski trip answer explains how the chalets suit ski crews.

Consider splitting the drive with an overnight stop if the group leaves after work, and keep the final hour near Georgian Bay in daylight during squall season.

Where a Montreal group stays once it reaches Blue Mountain

The eight Mountain-cluster chalets on Brooker Boulevard are a ten-minute walk from Blue Mountain Village, so the cars can stay parked for the week. Each sleeps 10 to 14 and has a private year-round hot tub, a full kitchen for group meals and parking for four vehicles. Larger parties can book neighbouring chalets on the same lot when the dates are free.

Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m. For first-time visitors from Quebec, our answer on what town Blue Mountain is in sorts out the local place names.

Is Blue Mountain a weekend trip from Montreal?

Not comfortably. About seventeen hours of round-trip driving before traffic leaves little time on the hill in two nights.

Do we pass through Toronto?

Yes. The computed route uses Highway 401 and Highway 400, so time the GTA section away from rush hour.

Can we fly instead?

Our answer on which airport to use explains the Toronto Pearson option and the drive north from there.

Which chalet suits a Montreal ski crew of twelve?

Stella sleeps 12 and has a private dry sauna. Groups of 13 or 14 can look at Omega, Vega, Aurora, Corona, Luna or Prima in the same Mountain cluster.
