Early ice at Eddie Bush: working back from the first game
Tournament schedules usually ask players to arrive well before puck drop. Start from that arrival time, then subtract about 15 minutes for the drive from 104 Brooker Boulevard (9.1 km), plus time to find parking downtown (the Town lists paid parking), unload bags and walk in. For a 7:30 a.m. game with a one-hour arrival request, the car leaves the chalet before 6:15.
Pack the cars the night before. A chalet kitchen makes a 5:45 breakfast simple: eggs and oatmeal for six players, eaten at the table, while the bags are already in the trunk.
Who sleeps where on an Eddie Bush tournament weekend
The roster is not the guest list. Count players, parents, siblings and any grandparent coming to watch, and give every overnight person a bed. A full team with families can easily outgrow three chalets.
The five-bedroom Brooker chalets work well for two families each: parents in the two main-level queens, kids in the lower-level bunk rooms, and the third queen for a grandparent or a third couple. Luna, Prima, Aurora and Corona each sleep 14; Omega and Vega sleep 13. Four parking spaces per chalet means two cars per family. If one family is left over, Vista sleeps up to 10 in four bedrooms with three bathrooms in the same row.
Between Eddie Bush games: rest, food and the Thundersnow Classic
The gap between a morning game and an evening game is when a chalet earns its keep. Players nap in real bedrooms, gear dries in one place, and the team meal happens around a dining table. The sports parents’ weekend guide covers drivers and handovers.
The Thundersnow Classic lists Eddie Bush Memorial Arena as its venue, with the Collingwood Girls Hockey Association setting January 15–17, 2027; teams follow their own schedule for arena assignments. At the chalets, the team party stays with the families booked in, and the noise bylaw applies all night.
