How a hockey team manager fits a tournament roster into two chalets

Count the overnight party, not the roster. A team that travels with one parent per player, plus a few siblings, is the number the chalet licence counts. For a squad of up to 16 players the tidiest answer is Luna and Prima booked together, units 7 and 8 at 104 Brooker Boulevard. Between them they have four bunk rooms and six queen bedrooms: 16 bunk places for players and room for 12 adults, a licensed total of 28. Each bunk room holds a single-over-double bunk and a single bed, so two teammates share every double lower bunk; settle those pairings with families before the drive. A bigger travelling party adds Stella, unit 6, next door. Each chalet is reserved on its own live calendar, so book both the same day.

Drive times from the chalets to hockey tournament arenas

Routing estimates from the Brooker cluster, before traffic, parking and the team’s dressing-room arrival time:
  • Eddie Bush Memorial Arena, 97 Hurontario Street, Collingwood: about 15 minutes, the same from 44L and Aqua Villa. The Town lists paid parking.
  • Central Park Arena, 85 Paterson Street, Collingwood: about 20 minutes.
  • Beaver Valley arena at the community centre in Thornbury: about 20 minutes, 15 from Aqua Villa.
  • Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre: about 35 minutes.
  • Stayner Arena: about 35 minutes. Wasaga Stars Arena: about 45.

Hockey tournament weekends on the Collingwood calendar

Collingwood Minor Hockey lists the Huronia tournament for October 23–25, 2026, and its page advertises an official rooming arrangement, so ask the tournament contact if your team may book independently before you reserve anything. The Collingwood Girls Hockey Association runs the Thundersnow Classic on January 15–17, 2027, with rinks from Collingwood to Thornbury, Wasaga Beach and Angus. The Silver Stick Collingwood Regional ran November 14–16 and December 12–14 in 2025; the 2026–27 dates were not posted when we last checked. Book once the fixture list names your rinks, because a Thornbury game and a Wasaga game pull a team in different directions.

Cars, hockey bags and the house rules for a tournament team stay

Each chalet has four parking spaces, and parking a fifth vehicle costs part of the security deposit, so a two-chalet team arrives in eight cars at most. Carpool from home and load bags first. No chalet lists a gear room or drying rack: agree where bags open up to air, keep blades and sticks off furniture, and use the in-unit washer and dryer for base layers and jerseys. Only registered overnight guests may be on the property, which rules out a team party with families staying elsewhere. The Town noise by-law applies around the clock, so the post-game debrief stays indoors. The sports-team parents’ weekend plan covers drivers and child handovers.

Hockey tournament teams: frequently asked questions

How many hockey players fit in one chalet?

In Corona, Luna or Prima, eight players fit across the two bunk rooms, with two sharing each double lower bunk, and up to six adults use the three queen rooms. The licence caps each of these chalets at 14 people.

Is Blue View an official hotel for Collingwood tournaments?

No. Some tournaments, Huronia among them, advertise their own rooming arrangement. Ask the organizer if your team may book independent accommodation before reserving a chalet.

What happens if our tournament is cancelled or our team is moved?

Cancelling up to 30 days before arrival returns a 93% refund and up to 14 days a 43% refund, less an administration fee and card charges. Book once the team has been accepted.

Can the whole team eat together in one chalet?

Each cluster chalet lists dining for ten, so a full team needs two sittings or two kitchens. Ask the property manager before planning a gathering that brings both chalets together.

How far is Central Park Arena from the chalets?

About 20 minutes by car from 104 Brooker Boulevard, 44L and Aqua Villa, before traffic and parking. Eddie Bush Memorial Arena is about 15 minutes.
