Where should a family with a dog stay for Alpine Ridge Alpacas?

A family relaxing together at a mountain cabin – Where to Stay for Alpine Ridge Alpacas, Clarksburg Ontario
Short answer
A family travelling with its dog can bring it to any Blue View chalet, all listed on the pet-friendly chalets page, but not to Alpine Ridge Alpacas, which asks visitors not to bring pets. The farm near Clarksburg is about 20 minutes from Aqua Villa and about 25 from the Brooker cluster and 44L. Plan the appointment around who looks after the dog, and ask Blue View about leaving a dog at the chalet before you book.

Dog rules at the chalet and at Alpine Ridge

Every Blue View chalet takes dogs for a pet fee. One dog is standard; at the cluster chalets and 44L a second can be considered by size with confirmation, while Aqua Villa’s policy names one. Dogs stay leashed outdoors, off beds and couches, and out of pools, hot tubs and steam rooms. When walking them, keep to public roads and public areas, not neighbouring yards or driveways. The farm is the opposite case: no pets at the experience, so one adult may need to stay behind with the dog.

What the Alpine Ridge alpaca walk involves

Visits are by appointment only. The walking experience starts with a handler introduction and covers roughly one kilometre over about an hour on uneven ground, in groups of up to twelve; with more than five visitors the alpacas are shared, and tours may be shared when the farm is busy. The farm’s pages give different age thresholds for handling, so ask which applies to your children before promising anyone a lead. There are no visitor washrooms or café on site.

Fitting the Alpine Ridge alpacas into a dog-friendly stay

With no washrooms at the farm, leave the chalet with everyone ready and plan lunch for afterwards. A family of up to ten fits The Vista, 44L or Aqua Villa. Aqua Villa, the closest of the three to the farm, has a bay-facing hot tub and a sandy public beach steps away; check the local rules before taking the dog onto any beach. The pet limit answer covers size questions for a second dog.

Clarksburg plans around the Alpine Ridge appointment

An hour-long walk plus the drive is half a morning, which leaves time for the dog’s own outing afterwards. Footwear matters on the uneven route, and so does a calm pace; the handler sets it, not the children. Clarksburg Day last ran on August 15, 2026, if the family wants to time a summer visit around the village. Check-in at 4:00 pm means the alpacas belong on a full day, not the arrival afternoon.
