Why do some five-bedroom Blue View chalets sleep 12 or 13 instead of 14?

Relaxing in an outdoor hot tub with a winter mountain view – Why Some Five-Bedroom Chalets Sleep 12 or 13 | Ontario
Short answer
It comes down to the fifth bedroom. Corona, Luna and Prima have two lower-level rooms with a single-over-double bunk plus a single (four people each), so they sleep 14. Omega and Vega swap one of those for a single bunk plus single (three people), so they sleep 13. Stella’s fifth bedroom has two singles (two people), so it sleeps 12. Compare the chalets that sleep 12 with the 13s and 14s.

Five bedrooms, three maximums at 104 Brooker Boulevard

Seven of the eight Brooker chalets have five bedrooms, and the first three rooms follow one pattern: queens, two on the main level and a third either downstairs or (at Aurora) on the main level too. The difference sits in the two rooms at the bottom of the house:

  • Corona, Luna, Prima: Bedroom 4 and Bedroom 5 are both single-over-double bunk plus single. Four plus four, with six in the queens: 14.
  • Omega, Vega: Bedroom 4 is the same, but Bedroom 5 is a single bunk plus single. Four plus three: 13.
  • Stella: Bedroom 4 is the same, and Bedroom 5 is two singles. Four plus two: 12.

How Aurora reaches 14 with three main-level queens

Aurora is the outlier. All three queens are on the main level, Bedroom 4 downstairs is a single-over-double bunk plus a single bed, and Bedroom 5 is listed as single-over-double bunk beds. Its published maximum is 14, the same as Corona, Luna and Prima, but the bedroom list does not give Bedroom 5 a count, so the Aurora rooms page asks groups of 14 to confirm that room with the team before booking. The four-bedroom Vista, next door, sleeps 10.

Choosing a Blue View five-bedroom by its fifth bedroom

Read the fifth bedroom as a clue to who the chalet suits. Stella’s twin room favours teenagers or adults who will not share, at the cost of two places. Omega and Vega’s single bunk plus single gives three separate beds, handy for three kids of different ages. Corona, Luna and Prima’s second double bunk gives the most room for siblings who happily share. None of the three is better in general; the right one is the one whose bottom floor matches the people who will sleep there. For exact group sizes, see a group of 13, a group of 11 and a group of 12.

Related questions

Do Omega, Vega and Stella have fewer bathrooms?

No. All seven five-bedroom chalets at 104 Brooker list three bathrooms.

Is the maximum just the number of beds?

It is the published occupancy limit for each chalet. It matches the beds with sharing, and exceeding it forfeits the full deposit.

Which five-bedroom chalets have a sauna?

Corona and Stella have dry saunas, and Luna and Prima have steam saunas. Aurora, Omega and Vega have none.

Can a group of 14 split between Omega and Vega?

Easily. Together they sleep 26, so 14 people leave plenty of spare beds, and each chalet keeps its own kitchen and hot tub.
