Fitting curling rinks of four into bonspiel chalets

A rink is four curlers, often with partners along. Most club trips fit two neighbours: Corona and Stella, units 5 and 6, sleep 26 together and each has a private dry sauna. Curlers who want their own bed should count beds rather than licence numbers. Stella’s lower level has a twin room with two singles and a bunk room with a single-over-double and a single; Vista has a room with two single bunk frames and another with two singles. Couples take the queen rooms. Each chalet books on its own calendar.

The Curling Club of Collingwood and other bonspiel ice

The Curling Club of Collingwood, 250 Hume Street, takes ice and function-space inquiries for bonspiels. It is about 15 minutes by car from the Brooker cluster and about 20 from 44L and Aqua Villa. The club handles curling-season bookings and the Town handles summer floor use; at our review its rentals page still carried a 2025/26 heading, so confirm your season directly. Creemore Arena, about 45 minutes away, houses the Creemore Curling Club. Where to stay for a Collingwood bonspiel covers draw-day timing.

After the last end: sauna, fireplace and hot tub at the bonspiel chalets

Sweeping is hard on the back. Corona pairs its dry sauna with two gas fireplaces; Stella has a dry sauna and one gas fireplace; every Blue View chalet has a private hot tub that runs all winter. Smoking is not allowed in the chalets, hot tubs or saunas, and dogs may not use the hot tubs. Groups that want heat in every house can also look at Luna and Prima, which have steam rooms; the sauna chalets page compares all five.

Draw times, drivers and house rules on a bonspiel weekend

Check-in is 4:00 pm, so a Friday draw before then means driving straight to the club. Check-out is 11:00 am on the last day, and the minimum stay is two nights. Each chalet has four parking spaces: two rinks in one house come in four cars at most, brooms and bags included, and a fifth vehicle costs part of the deposit. Settle who drives home from the club social before the weekend starts. Curlers from other clubs staying elsewhere cannot come back for a nightcap, and the noise by-law applies around the clock; the quiet hours answer explains it.

Curling bonspiel teams: frequently asked questions

How many curling rinks fit in one chalet?

A 12- to 14-guest chalet holds three rinks of four. A 10-guest chalet such as Vista or 44L holds two rinks plus two partners, always within the licensed maximum.

Which chalets have a sauna for curlers?

Corona and Stella have private dry saunas, Luna and Prima have private steam rooms, and Aqua Villa lists an indoor steam shower.

How far is the Creemore curling club?

Creemore Arena, home of the Creemore Curling Club, is about 45 minutes by car from all three Blue View addresses.

Is there a chalet for a single rink of four?

Yes. The smallest licences are ten guests, at Vista, 44L and Aqua Villa, so a rink of four with partners fits any of them with beds to spare.

Can we hold the bonspiel banquet at the chalet?

No. A chalet is not a function venue: only registered overnight guests may be on the property and the noise by-law applies at all hours, so the banquet belongs at the club.
