Georgian Bay Cycle for Hope: A Collingwood Start for Charity Riders
The Georgian Bay Cycle for Hope is a charity ride presented by the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, with starts in Penetanguishene and Collingwood. The 15th ride, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, raised money for local cancer care programs and services, and the Collingwood start at the Curling Club of Collingwood offered 100, 75, 50, 25 and 9 km options. A team from out of town can stay at a chalet about 15 minutes from that start.

Fundraising teams travelling in can compare our chalets for cycling groups against the start times. The Town of The Blue Mountains listing for 2026 gave these for the Collingwood start:
- 100 km and 75 km: registration 7:30 a.m., start 8 a.m.
- 50 km: registration 8 a.m., start 8:30 a.m.
- 25 km: registration 8:30 a.m., start 9 a.m.
- 9 km: registration 9 a.m., start 10 a.m.
Funds support cancer care programs and services at the centre’s Home for Hope at 185 Hume Street.
Housing a Cycle for Hope fundraising team
Charity teams often mix strong riders with family members doing the 9 km or 25 km, so the house needs to suit both. One chalet sleeps 10 to 14, and larger teams can book two adjacent chalets at 104 Brooker Boulevard. Mid-August is pool season there, and the propane barbecue handles a team dinner the night before.
Our place check puts the Curling Club of Collingwood about 15 minutes away, so even the 100 km riders can leave after 7 a.m. Each chalet has four parking spaces; ask before booking where bikes can be kept overnight.
Riding more of the shore after the Cycle for Hope
Sunday suits a recovery spin on the Georgian Trail, the rail trail running west from Collingwood toward Thornbury. Riders hooked on charity events can look ahead to the Grey Highlands Gran Fondo, which ran four weeks later in 2026, or plan a longer stay through our summer chalets.
