Holiday Magic at Blue Mountain Village: Dates and Where to Stay

Holiday Magic is the Village Association’s season-long winter program: the pedestrian streets and the Mill Pond loop are strung with lights, storefronts are dressed for the season, and the Holiday Magic Light Trail — a walking route of roughly a kilometre through the Village and around the pond — switches on nightly from dusk until 10 pm. It runs as a backdrop rather than a ticketed show, which is why it works for a chalet group: you wander it after dinner, in whatever order you like, for as many evenings as your stay covers. The season closes with the Village’s own New Year’s Eve programming on December 31, with late-night music and midnight fireworks when the weather allows them.

Last season ran from Saturday, November 15, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026, which is the window the organizer still shows. The 2026–27 dates had not been announced when we reviewed this page on September 22, 2026, so treat mid-November through the first weekend of January as the expected shape and confirm the exact opening night on the Village Association’s Holiday Magic page before you build a trip around a specific date. We refresh this page every January and June.

Our eight-chalet cluster at 104 Brooker Boulevard is a 10-minute walk from Blue Mountain Village, so the Light Trail is an after-dinner stroll rather than a drive and a search for a lot. Aqua Villa on the Georgian Bay shore is about a five-minute drive to the Village, and the 44L in Tyrolean Village is roughly five minutes to the resort base. If you are arriving on a weekend evening in December, expect Highway 26 and the Village entrances to be slow; walking from the cluster sidesteps the queue entirely.

Holiday Magic overlaps the busiest stretch of the Village calendar: parade-season weekends in late November, the run-up to Christmas, and the Christmas-to-New-Year block. Holiday-period minimum stays can apply on those dates, and the Christmas and New Year’s weekends are typically reserved months ahead, so a family that wants a specific chalet for the lights should book in early fall. The upside is that the whole trip happens on foot — skiing or tubing by day once the resort opens, the trail at dusk, the private hot tub after.
