The Nottawasaga Fall Classic is the Collingwood Paddling Club’s autumn race on the Nottawasaga River at Wasaga Beach. The club’s calendar lists the 2026 race for Saturday, October 17, with 10 km and 20 km options for youth performance, performance and masters paddlers in single boats, optional crew boats or non-sprint craft. The race is sanctioned by OMCKRA. A Blue Mountain chalet gives a visiting crew a warm, dry base for a mid-October morning on the water.
Nottawasaga Fall Classic courses by boat type
Clubs travelling with boats can compare our chalets for paddling groups now, since the 2026 race is confirmed for October 17. The registration page splits the field by equipment: boats with rudders or fins race a downstream 10 km loop, once for 10 km and twice for 20 km. Boats without rudders or fins head upstream first, and 20 km entrants finish with a lap of the downstream course.
Life jackets are mandatory, as is the standard safety equipment for your boat. Read the full notes on the race page before choosing a distance.
Race-morning timing from the chalets to Schoonertown Parkette
Registration opened at 8 a.m. at Schoonertown Parkette on Sunset Court, with the pre-race meeting at 9 a.m. and racing from 10 a.m. Our drive-time check puts Wasaga Beach about 39 minutes from 104 Brooker Boulevard, before traffic and stops, so leaving the chalet by about 7 a.m. leaves time to unload boats.
Each chalet allows four vehicles. Boats on roof racks travel with the car; if the club is bringing a trailer, ask us about parking before booking, because the four-vehicle limit is a house rule.
A post-Thanksgiving paddling weekend at Blue Mountain
In 2026 the race falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving Monday, once the shared pool at 104 Brooker has closed for the season. The private hot tub does the work instead, and Corona and Stella each have a dry sauna for cold hands. A Friday arrival means boats can be checked the night before and the kitchen handles an early breakfast.
A crew staying through Sunday could add a river day on the Beaver River from Kimberley to Epping, about 30 minutes from the chalets. Our Georgian Bay paddling guide covers open-water options.
