Sunnidale Winterama in New Lowell: A Village Winter Carnival Weekend

The township’s Winterama page set out the 2026 program day by day. Friday opened with the firefighters’ spaghetti dinner at the New Lowell Legion, beard-contest judging, a silent auction, an adults-only trivia night and the Burning of the Green, with fireworks at 8 p.m. Saturday brought a pancake breakfast, a craft and vendor market, a snowmobile show and shine, the 11 a.m. parade and bed races. Sunday closed with a big breakfast, a snowmobile memorial run and a snowshoe or winter hike. A family group can start on our family chalets page and choose the days that suit the children.

New Lowell lies east of Stayner in Clearview Township. Our route data puts the New Lowell Conservation Area about 50 minutes from 104 Brooker Boulevard before traffic and stops, so treat Winterama as a day out with a real drive at each end. Most 2026 events were at the Legion or New Lowell Recreation Park.

Contests and trivia required a Winterama button, according to the township page, and some payments at the door were cash only. Bring small bills.

Winterama is a village festival rather than a resort event, which is its charm. Pair the Saturday parade with an afternoon in Stayner on the way back, then end the day at the chalet with dinner and the hot tub. Families who would rather ski can split up: some at Blue Mountain, some in New Lowell, everyone together at night.

Only registered overnight guests may stay at the chalets, so new friends from the festival cannot come back for the evening. Check-in is 4 p.m., which leaves time to settle in before Friday’s 8 p.m. fireworks, about 50 minutes away.
