Can you host a party or event at a Blue Mountain chalet?

Friends celebrating together at a winter dinner table
Short answer
You can absolutely celebrate at a chalet — birthdays, reunions, bachelorettes, holiday dinners happen here every weekend — but the celebration is capped at the chalet’s registered guest limit of 10 to 14 people, set under the Town’s short-term rental licensing. These are homes in a neighbourhood, not event venues: no extra wave of evening guests, no amplified backyard parties. Groups bigger than one chalet book adjacent chalets instead.

The line between a celebration and an event

A milestone dinner for twelve with a cake and a hot-tub session is a normal chalet booking. Forty people arriving at 9 pm is not — occupancy limits are a condition of each chalet’s STR licence, and they apply around the clock, not just at bedtime. If everyone attending is on the guest list and inside the limit, you are celebrating; if the plan involves people beyond it, you are staging an event, and that needs a licensed venue rather than a rental home. Our rental policies put this in writing.

How real celebrations scale here

The honest path to a bigger party is more chalets, not more people per chalet. The eight cluster homes sit side by side, so a 30th birthday for 25 books two or three adjacent chalets — everyone within their own chalet’s limit, the group gathered at the shared firepits between them. The full-property buyout stretches the same logic to 104 guests. Occasion-specific pages — bachelorette, New Year’s — show how their crowds run the weekend.

Being the group everyone is glad to host

Chalet neighbourhoods have quiet hours, and outdoor noise carries in the escarpment air — the practical rules are covered in quiet hours and noise rules. Groups that keep the volume indoors after the evening winds down, respect the occupancy they booked, and treat the place like the home it is get their full deposit back and a welcome return. Tell us the occasion when you book; we will tell you honestly whether your plan fits.

Can day visitors join us at the chalet?

The registered guest limit is the ceiling for who is on the property — plan the celebration so everyone attending is part of the booked group.

Can we host a wedding reception at a chalet?

No — receptions exceed what a rental home is licensed for. Chalets excel as wedding-group lodging instead; see the wedding guest accommodation answer.

Will a birthday or bachelorette booking be accepted?

Yes — celebrations within occupancy are welcome and common. Be upfront about the occasion and headcount when booking.
