Do dogs have to be on a leash at the Blue View chalets?

A family relaxing together at a mountain cabin – Do Dogs Have to Be on a Leash at Blue View? | Ontario
Short answer
Yes, whenever the dog is outside. Blue View’s pet policy requires dogs to be leashed and under full control at all times outdoors, and walks must stay on public roads and designated public areas. Crossing neighbouring driveways, yards or vacant lots is prohibited, and the policy names Ridgeview Drive and the private properties around it. That applies at the 104 Brooker Boulevard chalets and at every other Blue View address.

The Blue View leash rule, yard and deck included

The policy wording is “leashed at all times while outdoors and under full control”. There is no exception for the chalet’s own space, so the backyard, the deck and the walk from the car all count. The eight Brooker chalets each list a garden or backyard, and none is described as a fenced dog run; our yards answer explains why fencing should be checked before booking if it matters.

“Full control” adds a second test. A dog on a long lead that reaches the neighbour’s hedge, or one that barks at every passer-by, is leashed but not controlled, and the policy expects both.

Walks stay on public roads and designated public areas. The policy then lists what is out of bounds: neighbouring properties of any kind, including private driveways, yards and vacant lots. It singles out Ridgeview Drive and all surrounding private properties, and asks guests to respect the privacy, boundaries and rights of neighbouring homeowners at all times.

The simplest routine is the road: out the front of the chalet, along the public street and back, with a bag for clean-up. For longer outings, the guide to dog-friendly places nearby lists trails and parks to drive to, where each site’s own rules apply.

What breaking the walking rules can cost

This is the strictest part of the pet policy. Failure to comply may result in fines, removal from the property without refund, additional charges for complaints or damages, or a combination. For a family, the removal clause is the one to take seriously; it ends the trip for the whole chalet, not just the dog. In a group of several chalets, brief every household that is bringing a dog, because one family’s shortcut across a neighbour’s lawn is the kind of complaint the clause was written for. The indoor rules are covered in dog rules inside a chalet.

Related questions

Does the leash rule apply in our own backyard?

Yes. The policy says leashed at all times while outdoors, with no exception for the chalet’s yard or deck.

Can the dog walk on the lawn by the pool?

Only on a leash, and never in the pool itself. Pets may not use the pool, hot tubs or steam rooms.

Is there an off-leash area at the property?

None is listed. Plan off-leash time at a public site that allows it, under that site’s rules.

Do the same rules apply at Aqua Villa and 44L?

Yes. The leash, control and public-areas rules are in Blue View’s general pet policy, which covers every chalet.
