Short answer
Two nights is enough for a ski weekend, three or four nights suits a group or reunion, and March Break, Christmas week and summer trips are best as four to seven nights. The deciding factor is the two-hour drive from Toronto: the trip up costs the same whether you stay two days or six, so longer stays get more mountain per kilometre.

Match the stay to the trip, not the calendar

A ski weekend works in two nights — arrive Friday evening, two full days on the hill, drive home Sunday after a last soak. Add a third night if you want a Sunday on the slopes without the drive hanging over it. A reunion or friends’ trip tends to need three or four nights because the first evening disappears into arrivals and the last morning into check-out, leaving the middle days for the things people actually came for. March Break, the Christmas week and summer family trips run four to seven nights, partly because school breaks are fixed weeks and partly because peak dates can carry a three- or four-night minimum anyway.

Why longer stays get cheaper per day of fun

The drive from Toronto is roughly two hours each way, more on a Friday evening. That fixed cost is the same for a two-night stay and a six-night one, which is the quiet argument for staying longer whenever the calendar allows. A whole chalet also changes the rhythm compared with a hotel room: with a full kitchen, a private hot tub and space for ten to fourteen, the days you are not skiing are still worth having — a slow pool morning in summer, a cider and brewery afternoon in fall, a snowshoe and a long dinner in winter. Groups that book midweek nights on top of the weekend also find the quieter hill and calmer Village are the best days of the trip.

Three quick templates

The ski weekend (2–3 nights): one of the eight cluster chalets a ten-minute walk from the Village, lift days Saturday and Sunday, hot tub both nights. The family week (5–7 nights): a sleeps-14 chalet or two adjacent chalets, a mix of hill days, beach or pool days and one Collingwood outing. The reunion (3–4 nights): two or three chalets on one property so every family has its own door, with one shared dinner night in the biggest kitchen. Whatever the length, the booking page shows the minimum for your dates the moment you enter them, so you can size the stay before you commit.

Related questions

Can we stay just one night?

No — the minimum stay at every chalet is two nights, and peak holiday dates can require three or four.

Is a week too long for Blue Mountain?

Not for families in summer or over March Break. Between the hill, the Village, Georgian Bay beaches, the Apple Pie Trail and the chalet itself, a week fills easily.

What is the best length for a first visit?

Three nights. It gives two full days without the arrival-and-departure squeeze, which is enough to know whether you want the week next time.
