Thundersnow Classic, January 15 to 17, 2027, run by the Collingwood Girls Hockey Association, with Eddie Bush Memorial Arena among the venues; teams follow their own schedules for arena assignments. Hockey families can read our Thundersnow page for the stay side.
Both fall on the same weekend, so groups coming for either one should book that weekend early. A hockey family and a ski crew can even share neighbouring chalets on the Brooker Boulevard lot, each with its own kitchen and hot tub, and meet for dinner after the games and the rail jam.
Racing and ski-club weekends through January at Blue Mountain
The private ski clubs on the escarpment, Craigleith, Osler Bluff, Alpine, Georgian Peaks and Devil's Glen, host Ontario Cup race weekends through the winter. In the 2025–26 season those ran from January 4 to March 20, 2026; the 2026–27 calendar is set by Alpine Ontario. Racing families can follow our Ontario Cup page.
The Village's Holiday Magic season ended on January 4 last winter, so early January still has some holiday atmosphere before the month settles into ski routine.
Planning a January 2027 chalet stay at Blue Mountain
Blue Mountain's lifts usually run from early-to-mid December to around mid-April, so January is reliably in season, subject to conditions the resort reports daily. Midweek nights suit groups who prefer quieter days on the hill; the midweek rentals page covers those.
