Where should a riding family stay for Mountain View Stables?

Snowboarders enjoying a sunny day on the mountain – Where to Stay for Mountain View Stables Rides, Ontario
Short answer
Every Blue View base is about 5 minutes from Mountain View Stables on Grey Road 21, so the base does not matter; the dates do. The stable’s two-hour trail ride is for experienced riders only and is not offered on weekends, holidays or in winter, so a family that wants it should book a weekday stay from the midweek rentals. Trail rides are for riders aged twelve and older.

Booking a midweek stay around the Mountain View two-hour ride

The two-night minimum applies midweek too, so a Tuesday-to-Thursday stay gives one full Wednesday for the long ride: arrive at 4:00 pm Tuesday, ride Wednesday, leave by 11:00 am Thursday. Call the stable about the date and riders first, then reserve the chalet once the ride is confirmed. Riders arrive fifteen minutes before the booked time, so even with a 5-minute drive, leave at least 20 minutes ahead and allow for parking.

Riders and non-riders in one Mountain View family

The stable describes a guided one-hour route through meadows and wooded terrain, adapted to the rider, while the longer ride needs existing experience; be accurate about each person’s history when you call. Children under twelve cannot join the trail rides, so a family with younger children needs a second adult and another activity for that hour. From May to mid-September the shared pool at the Brooker cluster is the easy answer; the horseback riding guide lists other stables.

Riding kit and a Mountain View base

The stable requires long pants, a helmet and closed-toe footwear with a half-inch heel, so check boots at home rather than at the barn. Muddy jeans can go in the chalet laundry: the cluster chalets and 44L list a washer and dryer, and Aqua Villa a washing machine. A family of up to ten fits The Vista or 44L; up to fourteen, one of the larger cluster chalets. The family chalets page compares layouts.

Weather and the Mountain View booking

All rides depend on weather and trail conditions, so keep the stable’s number handy on the day and have a fallback plan. A short drive makes a rescheduled ride easy to fit into the same stay, which is one more reason to book three nights rather than two.

Dogs are welcome at the chalets for a pet fee, one per chalet as standard, but ask the stable before bringing one to the barn. At the chalet, dogs stay leashed outdoors and out of the hot tub.
