Room-darkening shades, chalet by chalet at Blue View
- Listed: The Vista, The Omega, The Vega, The Luna and The Prima at 104 Brooker Boulevard; 44L in Tyrolean Village; Aqua Villa on Georgian Bay.
- Not listed: The Aurora, The Corona and The Stella.
The amenity lists name the feature but not the rooms, so “listed” means the chalet has room-darkening shades somewhere, not necessarily in every bedroom. For a baby’s room or a toddler’s nap, ask the team which bedrooms have them before you assign beds.
The pattern cuts across size. Among the 14-guest chalets, Luna and Prima list shades and Aurora and Corona do not; among the 13s, Omega and Vega both do; Stella, at 12, does not.
Who should book for room-darkening shades
Three kinds of group care most. Families with babies and toddlers who nap in the afternoon, or go to bed while it is still light in June and July. Ski groups who want the early risers to wake on their own schedule rather than the sunrise’s. And celebration groups whose Sunday starts late.
For a family that also needs the pool, Vista and Omega combine shades with a spot near the pool deck. For a family of 14 that wants a steam room as well, Luna and Prima have both. Our baby and toddler answer covers the rest of the young-family checklist.
Darkening a bedroom at Aurora, Corona or Stella
These three are no worse homes for a family; they simply do not list the feature. Pack a portable blackout blind or a couple of dark sheets and clips for the room the youngest will sleep in, and a white-noise app helps on a busy weekend. A sleep tent for a travel cot works anywhere. If the group splits across two chalets, put the youngest children in the chalet that lists shades and the teenagers in the one that does not; the pairs at the west end, Luna and Prima, both list them. See the family ski trip packing list for the rest.
