Parents of young children ask one question first: where will the kids sleep, and how far is that from us? This guide ranks the Blue View chalets for families with toddlers and primary-age children, using each chalet's own bed list. Book on the family chalets page, and read the toddler and young-kids activities guide for the days out.
The young-kids test: stairs, bunks and the hot tub
The cluster chalets are three storeys: kitchen and living upstairs, queen bedrooms on the main level, bunk rooms below. For a family with a two-year-old that means the parents' queen room and the children's bunk room are on different floors, so bring the monitor. The private hot tub at every chalet is a supervised-only space with a maximum of eight people and the cover on when empty, and the shared outdoor pool runs May to mid-September and is for registered guests only. The ranking below favours houses where the children's room is closest to the parents' room or where a room has two single beds rather than a high bunk.
1. The Vista: a two-single room for the youngest children
The Vista sleeps 10 across four bedrooms and its downstairs rooms are a two-single-bunk room and a room with two single beds. Two low single beds are what you want for a three-year-old and a five-year-old. It is the smallest cluster chalet, which also means fewer stairs between the kitchen and the children. Vista rooms and beds.
2. Aqua Villa: bedrooms and bathrooms on one level, a beach steps away
Aqua Villa lists three queen bedrooms and a two-single room with four bathrooms, and its listing describes a sandy public beach steps away and a hot tub on the balcony facing Georgian Bay. For a summer stay with young children the beach is the draw; for any season the extra bathrooms are. It has a washing machine (useful with toddlers) but no dryer, and it is a 5-minute drive from the resort. Aqua Villa rooms and beds.
3. The Stella: a two-single room in a five-bedroom house
The Stella sleeps 12 and its fifth bedroom has two single beds, so one family with young children can take the two-single room and leave the bunk room to the older cousins. Stella rooms and beds.
4. The 44L: a four-bedroom chalet with the pool a short drive away
The 44L sleeps 10 in Tyrolean Village with three queens and a room with two single bunk beds. Its listing counts two bathrooms, and the shared pool is a short drive away at 104 Brooker Boulevard rather than on site, which some parents prefer in summer because the pool is not on the doorstep. 44L rooms and beds.
5. The Aurora and the other five-bedroom chalets
For two or three families with young children, The Aurora's three main-level queens let every couple stay on the same floor, with the two bunk rooms below for the children who are old enough for a bunk. The Omega, Vega, Corona, Luna and Prima follow the same pattern with two main-level queens and a third queen downstairs beside the bunk rooms, which puts one set of parents on the children's floor. Compare them on the five-bedroom chalets page.
Naps, stairs and the three-storey layout with small children
The cluster chalets put the kitchen and living room on the upper level, the queen bedrooms on the main level and the bunk rooms on the lower level, which means a napping toddler is one floor below the kitchen and two below nothing. Bring the monitor. The chalet inventories do not list stair gates, high chairs or cots, so bring your own or ask before booking; the baby and toddler answer lists what is and is not provided. Aqua Villa's bedrooms and four bathrooms avoid the three-storey question.
Packing and laundry for a chalet week with toddlers
Linens and towels are provided in every chalet, and the cluster chalets and the 44L have a washer and dryer, which with toddlers is the amenity that matters; Aqua Villa has a washing machine only. Every kitchen has a microwave, a kettle and a dishwasher (Aqua Villa excepted) for bottles and sippy cups. The family packing list is written for a winter week with children.
Summer with young children: the pool and the beach
From May to mid-September the cluster's shared heated outdoor pool is open to registered guests, with a parent in the water for every small child; it is a communal pool, not a private one. Aqua Villa's listing describes a sandy public beach steps away and a hot tub on the balcony, and the family beaches guide covers the shallow-water options along the bay. The chalets with pool access page has the summer dates.
Two practical notes for the booking: check-in is 4 pm and checkout 11 am, which with toddlers means arriving after the nap and leaving before the next one, and each chalet has four free parking spots, so the stroller and the car seats come out of the car at the door. Every house is pet-friendly, and the family chalets page lists all ten with their bed counts.
Rainy days and short legs
With young children the plan needs indoor fallbacks: the rainy-day activities guide covers them, and the baby and toddler stay answer lists what the chalets do and do not provide. All ten chalets are pet-friendly, so the family dog can come; see the pet-friendly chalets page.
