This plan is for the person booking a weekend away in Collingwood for two, or for two or three couples travelling together, who wants a private house with a hot tub as the base. The booking is the ordinary two-night weekend on our weekend rentals page: check in on Friday from 4 p.m., check out on Sunday at 11 a.m. One honest note before the itinerary: every Blue View chalet sleeps at least ten, so a couple books the whole house, which is why this plan works best for a few couples sharing. Drive times come from our route data and are rounded up to five minutes.
Picking the chalet for a Collingwood weekend getaway
Three houses suit a small romantic party. Aqua Villa is the waterfront one, with a hot tub on the balcony facing Georgian Bay, sunrise and sunset views over the water, three queen bedrooms and four bathrooms, about 15 minutes from downtown Collingwood. The 44L is a vintage 1950s chalet in Tyrolean Village with three queen rooms and a fireplace. The Vista has two queen bedrooms on its main level, a top-floor living room looking at the slopes, and a 10-minute walk to Blue Mountain Village. For a winter weekend with a sauna, the Corona and Stella have dry saunas and the Luna and Prima steam rooms, though each of those sleeps 12 to 14. Our romantic getaway chalet answer weighs them for couples.
Two or three couples sharing a Collingwood weekend chalet
The house decides how private each couple's corner feels. Aqua Villa has three queen bedrooms and four bathrooms, so three couples each get a bedroom and a bathroom without a morning queue. The Vista's two queen rooms share its main level, which suits two couples happy to leave the lower floor of bunk and twin rooms empty. The 44L also has three queens but two bathrooms, so a three-couple weekend there takes a little coordination before dinner. Whichever house you take, the booking is for the whole chalet, so agree how the cost is shared before anyone pays.
Friday night: arriving for the Collingwood weekend
Leave early enough to shop before check-in, because the Friday drive north slows through the evening. Collingwood has the supermarkets, listed in our grocery and meal-prep guide, so buy for a Friday dinner, a Saturday breakfast and a Sunday brunch. After 4 p.m., settle in, light the fireplace and cook.
The hot tub is the Friday ritual, and it has a curfew. The Town's licence conditions for short-term rentals allow outdoor hot tub use from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., as our answer on the Blue Mountains hot tub hours by-law explains. Put the cover back on and clip it when you are done; it keeps the heat in for the morning.
Saturday in Collingwood: harbour morning, studios and dinner downtown
Morning. Drive into town, about 15 minutes, and start on the water. Harbourview Park has a wetland boardwalk and connects to the Arboretum's paved and natural paths. Millennium Park, at the end of Heritage Drive, looks back across the harbour to Blue Mountain; it is part of Collingwood's seasonal paid waterfront parking, so read the posted terms.
Midday. Walk to Simcoe Street for lunch at Poppy's French Bistro, which opens for midday service at 11 a.m. on weekends and closes it at 2:30 p.m. Upstairs in the same building, Tremont Studios opens its working artist studios on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Butter Gallery on Hurontario Street, with published daily hours, makes a second stop.
Afternoon. Split by mood. For a different kind of soak, Iwa Spa in Blue Mountain Village is 1.5 km from the cluster chalets and arranges coordinated appointments for friends through its group team. For a tasting, Side Launch Brewing's Collingwood taproom on Mountain Road listed Saturday hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. when we last checked. Then back to the chalet to change.
Evening. Book dinner before the weekend. Tesoro takes table bookings through OpenTable and warns that emailed requests may not arrive; Brunello on Fourth Street East serves dinner Tuesday to Saturday and has its own rules for parties of six or more. For a show, the Gayety Theatre asks guests to arrive at least 20 minutes before the start. Someone drives home sober, or the group books a taxi well ahead.
Sunday morning before the 11 a.m. checkout
Sunday is slow by design. The hot tub opens again at 7 a.m. for a last soak, brunch is whatever survived Saturday, and the house needs to be empty by 11. On the way home, take the shore: Northwinds Beach on Highway 26 is a Town park open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Craigleith Provincial Park is a day-use site on the bay, with Ontario Parks listing April 10 to October 18 for its 2026 season. The Collingwood Museum is closed on Sundays, so fit it into Saturday if it matters to you. If it rains, Galaxy Cinemas on Mountain Road is the indoor plan; check the dated showtimes before you go.
Seasonal swaps for a romantic Collingwood weekend
- Boating season: Collingwood Charters runs sightseeing and sunset cruises aboard the Huronic from the waterfront, and Collingwood Adventure Voyages advertises sunset outings by reservation in its May-to-October season.
- Fall: drive west for dinner in Thornbury, about 20 minutes from the cluster; Bruce Wine Bar lists dinner from 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday.
- Winter: ski Saturday morning from the Village, then do the harbour walk in the afternoon, or swap the town day for an evening in the sauna at home.
- Spring: stop at the Thornbury Fishway, where the Town describes rainbow trout passing the dam typically around April.
Booking the Collingwood weekend getaway: what the plan depends on
The standard minimum is two nights, and long weekends carry longer minimums, so a holiday Saturday may need a third night. There are no bundled weekend packages: Blue View rents the chalet, and you book the restaurants, the spa and any cruise directly with each business. Day visitors are not permitted, so friends staying elsewhere meet you in town rather than at the house. Every chalet takes one dog as the standard, with a pet fee, and dogs stay out of the hot tub. Winter Saturdays in ski season are the most contested nights of the year, so check each chalet's live calendar from the Collingwood chalet rentals page before you book the dinners.
