How an alumni reunion fills the chalets

An alumni reunion is many small groups, not one, and the cluster at 104 Brooker Boulevard suits that: 8 chalets side by side, each its own home with a kitchen, three bathrooms and a hot tub, for 104 registered guests in all. Collect registrations first, then sort them into chalets by friend group, team or residence floor. Thirty alumni fill three chalets, sixty fill five, and the whole class takes all eight on the full property page. The owner allows any chalets to be booked together when the dates are free, so each one is reserved on its own calendar, from Aurora (calendar) to Prima (calendar).

Chalet captains for the alumni reunion

Give every chalet a captain: the classmate who books it, pays for it, holds the security deposit authorization at check-in and knows the rules. Captains make sure every person sleeping in the chalet is on its guest list and that it stays within its licence of 10 to 14. They pass on the three rules that catch reunions out: only registered overnight guests may be on the property, so classmates who live nearby cannot drop in; the noise by-law applies at all hours, and a noise complaint forfeits the full deposit; and each chalet allows four vehicles. Booking several chalets together and splitting the payment help the captains.

Where the alumni reunion dinner happens

The reunion dinner is the one event that brings in the alumni who are not staying, so it belongs at a venue, not at the chalets. Options, with verified drive times from the cluster:

The Village Conference Centre, 5 minutes: event spaces across three levels with ballrooms and smaller rooms; the resort’s event team approves layouts.
Fabbrica Thornbury, 20 minutes: its main dining room is advertised at sixty seated.
Collingwood Legion Branch 63, 20 minutes: several rooms, with large seated dinners needing an outside licensed caterer.
The Collingwood Brewery, 25 minutes, and Side Launch Brewing, 10: private events in their taprooms and beer gardens.

Getting the alumni reunion there and home

Eight chalets with four spaces each is 32 vehicles at most, so carpool from the city and the old hometowns; the drive from Toronto is the common one. On dinner night, book transport or name drivers, because the venues are 5 to 25 minutes away. Alumni arrive from 4:00 pm on the first day and leave by 11:00 am on the last, with a two-night minimum. In season the shared pool is open May to mid-September, and with every chalet booked the pool and fire-pit patio belong to the reunion alone. A small group of old friends rather than a class belongs on college friends reunion chalets.
