Sweethearts Bonspiel in Collingwood: Curling on the Valentine’s and Family Day Weekend
The Sweethearts Bonspiel is one of four named bonspiels on the Curling Club of Collingwood’s website. Its event page says “See you in 2027!”, and the club calendar books the ice for it from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2027. That Saturday sits just before Valentine’s Day and the Family Day holiday, which makes a three-night chalet stay an easy fit.
What the club has published about the Sweethearts Bonspiel
So far, very little. The Sweethearts event page carries registration steps and the line “See you in 2027!”, with no team format or entry rules yet; the date comes from the club’s February calendar. Couples planning around it can compare homes on our couples group weekend chalets page, then confirm with the club how teams are made up.
The name hints at pairs, but the club has not said so. Ask before you assemble a team.
Sweethearts Bonspiel timing on the Family Day long weekend
February 13, 2027 is a Saturday. Valentine’s Day follows on Sunday and Ontario’s Family Day holiday on Monday, February 15. A group that checks in Friday after 4 p.m. and leaves Monday by 11 a.m. gets the bonspiel, a free Sunday on the hill or in the Village, and an unhurried last morning.
Wasaga Beach has held its winter festival on recent Family Day weekends; our SnowmanMania page tracks the latest confirmed dates.
Choosing a chalet for a Sweethearts Bonspiel couples’ trip
Two couples fit easily in the four-bedroom Vista. Three or four couples suit a five-bedroom chalet: Luna and Prima each have a private steam room, while Corona and Stella have dry saunas. Every chalet has its own hot tub, welcome after a day of sweeping.
The club on Hume Street is about 15 minutes from the Brooker chalets by our route data. Smoking is not allowed in the chalets, hot tubs or steam rooms, and only registered overnight guests may stay on the property.
