What safety equipment is in the Blue View chalets?

A family relaxing together at a mountain cabin – Safety Equipment in the Blue View Chalets | Ontario
Short answer
Every chalet lists a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector and a fire extinguisher. The eight Brooker chalets and 44L add a first aid kit, the Brooker chalets add outdoor lighting, and Aqua Villa lists an emergency exit. Child-proofing items such as stair gates are not on any list, so families choosing from the family chalets should pack their own or ask first.

Safety items listed at each Blue View chalet

  • Aurora, Vista, Omega, Vega, Corona, Stella, Luna, Prima: smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and outdoor lighting.
  • 44L: smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit and fire extinguisher.
  • Aqua Villa: smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher and an emergency exit. A first aid kit is not on its list, so bring one.

The carbon monoxide detectors matter in homes with gas: every Brooker chalet has at least one gas fireplace, and each has a propane BBQ. Locate the detectors, extinguisher and first aid kit in the first hour, as part of the first-hour walk-through.

What the Blue View safety lists do not include

No chalet lists stair gates, outlet covers, cabinet locks, window guards or a pool fence, and none lists a crib or high chair. That does not mean a chalet has none; it means the published amenities do not promise them. Families with babies or toddlers should ask the team before booking and pack the essentials anyway.

The layout is part of the picture. The Brooker chalets are three-level homes with the kitchen and living room on the top floor and bunk rooms two floors down, so stairs are a daily feature, and the hot tub sits outdoors on a deck. Our baby and toddler answer and child-friendly chalets answer cover how families manage both.

Emergencies at a Blue View chalet

In an emergency, call 911 first. The lease also lets security, the OPP or licensing officers enter a chalet in an emergency, for the safety of guests and neighbours. For anything urgent but not an emergency, a broken lock or a tripped breaker, use the contacts in your reservation instructions; who to contact during a stay explains what to include. Write the chalet’s street address on the fridge for any guest who might need to give it to a dispatcher: 104 Brooker Boulevard for the cluster, 179 Tyrolean Lane for 44L, 209555 Highway 26 for Aqua Villa.

Does every chalet have a carbon monoxide detector?

Yes. All ten amenity lists include a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector.

Is there a first aid kit at Aqua Villa?

It is not on Aqua Villa’s amenity list. The other nine chalets list one, so bring a kit if you are staying on the bay.

Do the chalets list outdoor lighting?

The eight Brooker chalets do. 44L and Aqua Villa do not list it, so bring a flashlight for evening arrivals.

No lifeguard or supervision is listed. Children at the pool should be with an adult.
