Two chalets for a mountain bike group of up to 24

Aurora and Vista, units 1 and 2, sleep 24 in nine bedrooms. Aurora has three queen rooms on the main level, the most of any Blue View chalet, which suits adult riders travelling as couples; Vista has a twin room with two single beds for riders who want their own. No chalet lists bike storage, a wash station or a repair stand, so ask the property manager where bikes may sit overnight before you load the racks. Each chalet books on its own live calendar.

Where a mountain bike group rides from the chalets

Explore Park is Blue Mountain’s resort trail network, with hiking and biking routes of different difficulty across the escarpment, about five minutes by car to the P1 South approach. The resort requires a qualifying day ticket or season pass, so check the product and the day’s trail operations. Pretty River Valley is a non-operating provincial park where Ontario Parks sends riders to a separate access at 6th Sideroad and 2nd Line; it has no facilities or washrooms, and when parking is full visitors are asked to return another time. Our 25-minute estimate runs to the hiking entrance, so route the bike access on its own. Trail notes are in the mountain biking trails guide.

Muddy kit and tired legs on a mountain bike weekend

Every cluster chalet has an in-unit washer and dryer, so jerseys and chamois are clean by morning. Leave riding shoes outside; ask before rinsing bikes anywhere on the property. Each chalet has a propane barbecue and a private hot tub, the shared gas fire pits sit between the homes, and from May to mid-September the cluster pool is open to registered guests. A gentler recovery ride uses Collingwood’s trail network of about 60 kilometres, about 15 minutes away; where to stay for the Collingwood trails explains its starting points.

Fat bikes, shoulder seasons and rules for a mountain bike group

Winter riding is a different trip: Kolapore’s association asks cyclists to keep off its ski network in winter, so read the fat biking chalet stay guide first. In any season, check-in is 4:00 pm, check-out 11:00 am and the minimum stay is two nights. Four vehicles per chalet is a hard limit: a fifth car costs part of the security deposit, so count racks and seats before the group leaves home. Check each trail operator’s page on the morning you ride.

Mountain bike groups: frequently asked questions

Is there secure bike storage at the chalets?

No chalet lists bike storage. Ask the property manager before arrival where bikes may be kept overnight.

Do we need a ticket to ride Blue Mountain’s Explore Park?

The resort requires a qualifying day ticket or season pass for Explore Park. Check what the product includes and the day’s trail operations before leaving.

Where do mountain bikers park for Pretty River Valley?

Ontario Parks directs riders to the 6th Sideroad and 2nd Line access, separate from the hiking entrance. Use designated parking only; the park has no facilities.

Which chalet suits a mountain bike group of ten?

Vista, unit 2, sleeps ten with two queen rooms, a bunk room and a twin room. 44L in Tyrolean Village also sleeps ten.

How many bikes and cars can a mountain bike group bring?

Four vehicles per chalet, so count the racks. No chalet lists bike storage, so the number of bikes is a question for the property manager before booking.
