Big Dipper Snow Tubing, Blue Mountain Ontario

Last reviewed October 4, 2026 · Blue View Chalets Team

Plan the visit and the stay

Big Dipper is the snow-tubing attraction at Blue Mountain’s Village base. Every participant rides alone and must get into and out of the tube without help. For a family chalet trip, confirm those requirements before putting all children on the tubing list; an adult cannot simply share a tube with a younger child.

Check whether every proposed Big Dipper rider can participate alone

The solo-rider requirement also applies to very young participants. Talk through getting seated, riding and getting out with the adults responsible for each child before buying admission. Direct individual suitability questions to the attraction team.

Keep a separate plan for children or adults who will skip tubing. The March Break family guide helps balance several ages without making one attraction compulsory for the whole household.

Allow for walking back uphill between tubing runs

The attraction involves returning uphill with the tube after a descent. Only empty tubes may be pulled uphill; the operator allows one non-tubing helper when a rider needs help pulling theirs. Ordinary spectators are not admitted to the tube park.

Arrange the reunion point outside the attraction for relatives who are waiting. Put spare layers and the next warm-up stop into the winter-weekend itinerary, especially when other guests have spent the same morning skiing.

Fit the Big Dipper admission window around the chalet day

The operator normally admits its last guest about an hour before closing, and a busy queue can close earlier. Arriving shortly before the advertised closing time is therefore a poor foundation for a fixed family plan.

Look at the actual day’s hours before choosing lunch or an afternoon departure from the chalet. The attraction-ticket answer explains the accommodation and activity bookings. Save a flexible evening together at the home rather than promising a particular number of tubing runs.

Big Dipper Snow Tubing: questions before booking

May a parent share a Big Dipper tube with a toddler?

The published rule requires each tuber, including young children, to ride alone.

Is a Big Dipper observer the same as an uphill helper?

No. The operator describes a limited helping role for pulling a tube; it does not allow general spectators in the park.

Does Big Dipper’s closing hour equal its final admission time?

Admission generally stops approximately one hour earlier and may close sooner when busy.
