Family Day falls on Monday, February 15, 2027, which makes the weekend of February 13 to 15 the busiest family weekend of the Blue Mountain winter. If three families are going together, the booking decision is the whole plan: one chalet with three queen bedrooms, or two chalets side by side. Dates are on the Family Day chalet rentals page; the general Family Day weekend guide covers the resort's own programme.
Three families in one chalet: The Aurora
The Aurora is the only cluster chalet with three queen bedrooms on its main level, so each couple gets a proper bedroom on the same floor, and the two bunk rooms downstairs (a single-over-double bunk with a single bed, and a single-over-double bunk) sleep up to five children. That is 14 people under one roof with dining for 10, which means the children eat first on Family Day Sunday. The Aurora rooms and beds page is the bed-assignment sheet.
Three families in two chalets
If the children are small, if one family has a baby, or if the three families total more than 14, book two adjacent cluster chalets instead: two kitchens, two hot tubs, two front doors on the same property and the shared fire-pit patio in between. The two-chalets page explains the pairings and the private-chalet-per-family answer explains how each family can book its own house. For three families with older children, a 14-guest chalet paired with a 10-guest one is the usual shape.
Family Day Saturday: the Village on foot
From 104 Brooker Boulevard, Blue Mountain Village is a 10-minute walk, so the three families can split up without moving a car: skiers to the lifts, non-skiers to Big Dipper snow tubing at the Village base (every rider goes down alone and must get in and out of the tube unaided, so check the rules for the youngest children) or to the shops. The resort runs its own Family Day programming each year; the skating and tubing guide covers the options without lift tickets.
Family Day Sunday: skating at the summit and the hot tub rota
Woodview Mountaintop Skating is a 1.1-kilometre lit loop at the summit, about ten minutes' drive from the chalets; confirm the day's operating hours and whether skate rentals are offered before you promise it to the children. Back at the chalet, the private hot tub takes eight people at a time, so three families need a rota: adults after the children are in bed, children in daylight with a parent in the water. The hot-tub capacity answer explains the limit. The shared outdoor pool is closed in February.
Family Day Monday: a Wasaga detour or a slow checkout
Checkout is 11 am. If the group wants one more outing on the way home, Wasaga Beach's SnowmanMania has run on the Family Day long weekend; the event page carries the verified dates for the coming year. For the adults, Scandinave Spa admits guests aged 14 and over, which rules out a family visit but works for a parents' hour if one adult stays with the children; the minimum-age answer has the detail.
Groceries and meals for three families in one kitchen
A cluster chalet has one kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave and one refrigerator, and dining for ten, so three families eat Family Day dinner in two sittings or buffet-style from the counter. Assign each family one dinner, shop once before arriving or use grocery delivery to the chalets, and keep breakfast self-serve. The feeding-twenty meal plan is the template; cut it by a third.
Driving up for Family Day weekend
Family Day Friday is one of the heavier evenings on Highway 26, and three families usually arrive in three cars at three different times. Check-in is 4 pm; the first family to arrive takes the groceries, the last takes the toboggans. Each chalet has four parking spots, so the fourth car is the spare. The drive guide covers the Friday timing and the winter-road notes; for the Sunday-night return, check the forecast and leave early if the weather turns.
If the snow is thin on Family Day weekend
Mid-February usually holds snow, but a thaw weekend happens. The fallbacks for three families are indoor: Head Over Heels Gymnastics drop-in sessions for the youngest, Galaxy Cinemas for a dated showtime, the Collingwood Museum, and the chalet's own hot tub and fireplace. The rainy-day guide lists the rest.
What to settle before three families arrive
Each cluster chalet has four free parking spots, so three families arrive in three cars with one spare. Agree who brings the toboggans, who cooks Saturday dinner and who does the Monday clean-up; the multi-generational vacation guide has a chores list that transfers. Family Day weekend dates are among the first winter weekends to fill, so read how far in advance to book and settle the booking before the room-assignment debate starts.
